The icy cold sunrise this morning at the wildlife refuge.
Way off to the west, the Magdelena Mountains catch some early rays. There's a great flying site on top of the Mags.
Every morning around sunrise, all the thousands and thousands of birds at the refuge "Fly Off" to spend the day in the agricultural fields to the north, and every evening they "Fly In" to spend the night. The sight and sound of all this birdly activity is an awesome spectacle to behold. It was well worth the 4:30 am wake up call and the hour and a half drive.
Canadians, eh?
This display at the Visitor's Center sheds some light on the reason for my dismal soaring performance.
