With the prop stopped and feathered Jim eeked out a climb in the day's last thermal, aided by a reluctant vulture and his secret weapon, a Flytec Sonic!

Hang Gliding buddy Jim Lee took me aloft in his Urban Air Lambada. It's a Light Sport motor glider that can take off anywhere, climb at 1200 fpm with 2 people, cruise at 9o mph while sipping car gas at 3.5 gph, and can turn into a 30:1 sailplane just by switching off the 80 hp motor. This aircraft can be flown by Private, Sport, or Glider rated pilots. I like that it comes standard with a big old ballistically deployed parachute built in to the fuselage. Another cool safety feature is the incredibly mellow stall. The plane gives ample warning of the impending stall by buffeting, but the really interesting thing was that Jim could still turn the Lambada left or right while it just buffeted away, never even hinting at a spin. Jim is partnered with another old hangie, Joe Bostick, in the business of importing these beauties.

Looking out at the sleek 15 meter wings as we glide silently back to Wallaby.
